Maternal Mortality/Morbidity Family Response Team
Maternal Mortality is when a mother dies because of problems related to pregnancy or giving birth. This can happen during pregnancy, delivery, or shortly after.
Maternal Morbidity is when a mother gets very sick or has serious health problems because of pregnancy or childbirth. These problems can be things like infections, bleeding, or problems with the heart.
The 4Kira4Moms Maternal Mortality/Morbidity Response team is a direct-response program offering wraparound services, resources, and trauma support within 24 hours of either of the following:
-Death of a pregnant/birthing mother
-Near-miss event (when a mother nearly dies but survives a life-threatening complication during pregnancy/childbirth
Our team will provide essentials like food, formula, diapers, baby supplies, household items, clothes, etc., and linkage to support services, including grief counseling, legal support, assistance with social services, and anything deemed critical for the first year following maternal death or morbidity.
